Oni charts used to only be in Oni mode, so the idea was for them to be hard to combo modless (i.e., have a lot of stupid patterns).

I guess that explains Brilliant2U ~Orchestra Mix~'s Oni steps laugh.gif (Although more fun)

I see Oni like Pump It Up Zero's Another Channel. Just extra steps.

Except Andamiro seems to have no inhibitions at all about making some of their Nightmare Anothers impossible to play without a 2nd person.

All 3 of these songs (complete with butchered spelling) have Oni steps harder than their Heavy steps. Isn't that a good thing? We like that last time I checked.

Dynamite Rave is open for Debate though. Which one is harder? I say Heavy, but my friends say Oni. The charts are too similar in difficulty for my liking.

As for Dynamite Rave, I say Oni is way, waaaay harder than heavy, and is one of the most deceptively hard stepcharts in the game. It really doesn't look that hard, but it feels much harder when you actually play it. In fact, I've AA'd all but 9 of the 9-footers on Extreme, and Dynamite Rave Oni is one of the ones I haven't been able to get yet.

you have to do a lot of double-stepping on eighths/quarters to do the sixteenth spurts naturally.

i'm interested in what 9's you have yet to AA, as that might be indicative of why you're having trouble with dynamite rave oni in particular.

The 9's on Extreme I have yet to AA are:
A (Oni)
Across the Nightmare (Oni)
Burning Heat
Cartoon Heroes
Dynamite Rave (Oni)
Gradiusic Cyber
Orion .78 Civilization Mix
Paranoia Eternal
Trip Machine Climax

I have definitely noticed that Dynamite Rave Oni requires some awkward double-stepping in order to be able to hit the 16ths, and I often get off-balance. I have FC'd it before, but with something ridiculous like 80 greats. It was one of the last 9s I A'd as well, so I guess I'm just particularly bad at that song (I also find it more draining than most other 9s). It does have a few step-jumps as well, which I tend to struggle with.

[edit] Scratch A (Oni). Dynamite Rave Oni is now in the final 8.

You should be able to get A (oni) and Trip Machine Climax more easily than the others, I do believe.

Got A (Oni) tonight. I always screw up and get misses somewhere in TMC - a different place every time, but always somewhere.

I did that a couple of times as well, but eventually got it with high 20,s or low 30's, I dont remember, but it was always either the step-jumps or the jackhammers in the beginning.

On topic: Oni doesn't have to be consistently easier or harder than the heavy versions, they're simply alternate steps, like S-Maniac (I think that's what it's called...)
