Hey all! I got addicted to DDR a few months ago (I have Max2, Extreme2, and Supernova), and I used to have two Pelican Dance Mat Pro Series pads, which are the only kind that GameStop sells. After about a month, both of them were wrinkly and unresponsive. >_< So I returned them, and got new ones, unfortunately of the same kind. I put together just one this time, and on the first time using it noticed that only half of the right arrow would register. What is the problem with these pads, and are there any metal pads that don't crack easily (I've been reading reviews and it sounds like a common problem). Thanks!

Nick

They are soft mats, so they are generally useless unless you mod them. Return them, hopefully get responsive ones in return, then follow this site's guide to modify them.

Metal pads don't crack easily, just tx-1000's and their 200 clones.

What sort of budget do you have to work with here?

I don't have much now, but I'll be willing to save up money to get whatever. Cobalt Flux looks really really cool. Any opinions on it?

Well the last cobalt flux that I played on, which was brand new, really sucked. Maybe it was just that pad. But I know for a fact that I love my blueshark.

I love my BlueShark too, other than the fact that the control box is broken (I stepped on it while wearing shoes). I'm getting a new control box soon though.

Did the owner remember to loosen the screws and remove the film covering entirely?

That's a good point, no he didn't. He doesn't know crap about ddr or anything. He's one of those kids who just gets a cobalt and supernova cause he can.

Well, homebrew is debatably two words, since it's a compound word, but I'd agree that homebrew is typically a safe bet.

And it's way easier than it seems like it should be. Even I can do it! E13.gif
