oh wait! |
Maybe they want to buy a used one for cheaper and might not know exactly what a dedicab looks like. _________________

I'm fairly certain I've played on one of the most bootleg ITG cabinets ever. When I go back to CT for a weekend I'll definitely take pictures of it and post them somewhere, but I'll just describe it for now...
The machine itself is in some variation of a Pop'n Music cabinet (without the controller of course). It's a steel/greyish type unit with pop'n charaters on the sides.
The buttons below the screen for game navigation consist of one red, yellow, and green circle in that order arranged in a horizontal line. The buttons are exactly the type you'd find on a fighting game.
The pads are even weirder...
Imagine pads with a basic design and arrow height and placement identical to a dedicab's, but with plain red arrows that aren't the official ITG design. In the four corners of the pad, there is "ITG" in each block in blue lettering. The whole unit also feels very unstable, and the bar (which is like a DDR bar) is a weird distance away.
I played about 3 rounds on expert on this unit, the average set being a 9/10 - 11 - 12/13 before the thing started messing up. The machine played the songs and stepcharts like normal, but did not register your steps until roughly a second after you stepped. All in all it was a strange experience. |

There's a Namco cabinet at an arcade by my house. I'll try to remember to get a picture of it.
Take my word for it, though, there is NO mistaking a crapocab from an upgrade/dedi once you've played on one. You don't know frustration until you're halfway through a marathon and the steps suddenly start registering a full TWO SECONDS (no, I'm not exagerating) after you step on them.
A more inefficient and unworkable cabinet design I've never seen. _________________

I played on a crapocab at Crossgates Mall in Albany, New York. I MIGHT have taken a picture on a disposable camera, but I'm not sure. _________________

I'm fairly sure that one is an upgrade cab, I frequent that place and the cab lags once in awhile but there have been times it has had solid performance. |
