I read somewhere else, i think on ITGFREAK where he said that Queen of Light was the 3rd hardest 10 because the hands are "impossible".

I listened to Normal a couple days ago, and I realized it's actually a darn good song. The preview on the song selection wheel just happens to play the worst part of the song.

Sorry for the bump.

Bearing in mind that a song can be both good and overrated, Utopia is my first choice. I mean, I totally dig the song, but some people just won't shut UP about the damned thing.

Other overrated songs:
-Anything on ITG by KaW. I usually like Kyle Ward's stuff, but the songs he writes under the KaW pseudonym tend to be a bit dull and a little too ambient for my tastes. I don't include Euphoria or Indulgence in this.
-Kid Whatever ITG songs (any name). They never GO anywhere! Honest to God, you can hear the song sample during the stage select, and you've heard the whole song! I don't mind people frothing at the mouth for "Dance While the Rekkid Spins," but I just don't see it. I enjoy some of his stuff from Mongolian Grill, though.
-Disconnected (insert mix here).
-Bend Your Mind. Not so much talked about on DDRFreak, but it is SO whored out on every step of the difficulty ladder at some of the arcade around here. I can't even stand to see it anymore, let alone play it.

Underrated:
-SpaceKats songs. They could EASILY lend themselves to good Expert steps, and are very medolic and fun. I really wish they'd commission a couple of new songs by them for ITG3.
-Banzai songs. Not underrated from a players' standpoint (since most people seem to like Anubis and Zodiac), but from Kyle Ward's standpoint. It doesn't seem like he likes releasing songs under this name. They're great songs, K! Don't give up on it!

Some more entries,

Overrated:

- Bumble Bee - It's the most played song at our local arcade.
- Amore - This is the second most played song; man do I hate it when clueless novices always choose this song by default.
- Energizer - For some reason, everyone decides to play this as their boss song; its popularity rank is 3 at our arcade.
- ROM-eo & Juli8 - Probably the most overplayed easy Expert song from ITG 1.

Overall though, D-Code takes the top spot.

Underrated:

- Baby Don't You Want Me - A great song, but it doesn't get played very often, considering where it is on the songwheel (near the default song).
- Both Chucho Merchan songs - I love this artist's work so much, but he still doesn't get the appreciation deserved.
- Hybrid (the group) - Goodness, do these songs get played seldomly. I find them to be great drum'n'bass techno, but all three of them have popularity ranks in the 90's, which is extremely poor for ITG 2. In fact, next to Hustle Beach, Out Of The Dark is the least played ITG 2 song on our entire machine.
- Soapy Bubble - Another one of the least played ITG 2 songs over here, this addicting techno-trance song is among my favorites, yet it doesn't get any love. I even enjoy the unpopular Expert stepchart.

I agree that Baby Don't You Want Me is very underrated.
Pick Me Up And Tango is also underrated, but that's probably cause it has no expert steps

I almost always play expert, so a song without expert steps is a turnoff.

I have never really seen anyone other than me play ITG in person regularly, so it is hard to say what is overplayed and stuff. I find a lot of people like Mellow, I personally don't know why though.

A lot of people don't like HotN, I personally don't know why either.

That's my overrated and underrated for now.

Well, since I just lurk here usually and go to ITGFreak about once every 2 months, these are just my opinion.

Overrated:
Disconnected Hyper: Sure, it's the hardest 10 (And I agree with this, on SM I can almost pass Vertex^2 and Summer, and I still haven't passed this...), but seriously, compared to the other disconnecteds, this song has NOTHING musically.

Temple Of Boom: I saw this song done about 3 times during the tournament I attended (and didn't participate in due to a freak accident involving an escalator and sandals >.<+) and I must say, what on EARTH is so special about it? Seriously, in just one day with 3 times of hearing this song, I was already tired of it.

Underrated:
Oasis: EASILY KaW's best work, and yet, I have seen NOBODY play this song. The music owns, the steps are fun, but nobody likes it. Maybe the people near me just don't know how to turn with the steps...

Pandemonium: Maybe because it's hellishly hard, maybe because it has nothing awesome musically, but nobody plays this song at my arcade on a regular basis. I have seen it done twice, and one person saw the steps (hard mode singles) and walked right off the pad. The other person passed it on doubles, hard. But that's it...people play the other 13s, why not the original?

My arcade is weird. I am pretty much the only person who plays that song at my arcade, though I don't play it often. I guess I'm glad for that; I love the song. Being whored would only make it annoying.

Out of the Dark is definately the most underrated song. I swear I had no Idea until last Friday that it had vocals, and then I played it for the first time ever, and it's now one of my favorites.

Yeah, you sound just like me E1.gif
I've always loved HotN and I've always hated mellow.

Because Pandy is satan disguised as a song. Seriously, that song is terrifing. It's EASILY the most energy draining song in all of itg. But that's kinda why I like it. Just it's hard steps are very difficult.

I lolled at that. Are you kidding? Queen of Light, while I think is an awesome song, is FAR from the 3rd hardest 10. It's the only 10 that I know for a fact I can do, otherwise, I'm still playing 9s.

Totally agreed. I know for one thing that 1 said he hated that song badly. Hybrid's songs are neat, but nobody ever plays them where I come from.

Another very overrated song is July -Euromix-, which gets played several times at our local arcade, when it's really just some mediocre remix of a great E1.gif song, full of cheesy electectronic instruments that make it sound extremely similar to Better Off Alone.

hey all.. first post! lol...

concerning overrated songs, theres really nothing that gets played excessively in my area. i normally play temple of boom a lot, but where the song itself gets old, the steps are fun as hell, and i personally think its a rather decent show-off song, before you play 11s and 12s. to me then, the most overrated song would have to be tribal style.. i used to play it a lot, but now i dislike it bc its too damn easy... i dont think i get under 93s on it, and i get really pissed if i miss an arrow in that song lol..

for most underrated tho, iu have 2:

soapy bubble
no 1 nation

ive always been a fan of soapy bubble (the song, excluding steps), but i now think the steps are incredible for it.. granted they get a bit easy but its still a fun song to try and score on, for me at least.

no 1 nation i played for the first time a few days ago, and now i play it every time i play itg...i love the steps and the song.

Mouth actually isn't all that bad.
Frontalot's stuff is underrated since there are no expert steps and people just seem to hate it...
Bouff is overrated, I'd say..

That actually was me. The reason I thought Queen of Light was difficult was because I can't cheat hands, having extremely small feet, and because there is a bunch of tricky crap in there, such as the down arrow hands while holding left and right with your feet. I was also very slow when I made that post, as I could hardly even move my feet on a pad while I was down on all fours.

I don't find it very challenging anymore.

I don't cheat hands either, but I can see where you would say that there is tricky crap in there. I love the tricky crap though, it's my favourite part of the game. Songs that are only ridiculously fast just don't do it for me for some reason. Am I the only one who feels that way?

But more on topic, bumble bee is way overrated at the arcade I frequent.

Out here the most overplayed things are...
-Bumble Bee
-Mythology

Frankly I would gladly stab both stepcharts if they were humans.
Underated...

-Soapy Bubble
-Know Your Enemy
-Disconnected Mobius

Guys, Soappy Bubbly is officially WAY overrated. Musically, it's alright, but nothing special. And the expert steps suck soooo bad. Not only do I suck at the steps, they are just terribly arranged with nearly impossible, backward-facing, crossovers on very weird 16th notes... I hate it.
