whats the requirements to get certain characters with an A or better? ive only got 10th(actually, just got 7th), but for a AA you can get either emo trenchcoat guy or the guy in white, from my experience. which one's better? and whats the difference between color and noncolor? also, i managed to AAA 5.1.1, is that the only picture for a AAA? weird.
most of them come out of endless mode, right?
i recently got 7th and it seems hard as hell to time. are all the styles a little different or are the graphics just throwing me off?
and for everyone who does stuff like 8* anothers(or 10 or 12, my knowledge is limited to 10th and BMUS) how long did it take to get there?
also, do you speed mod, or like to keep your bpm in a certain range?
sorry, lots of questions. |

Well, recently, yes. I found out that I tend to pass slow songs <110 BPM. _________________

- Depending on the style, there are different number of pictures for each grade. For example, 10th has 3 different pictures for getting AAA's, I think 2 for AA's and maybe 1 for A's.. I don't remember off the top of my head, but you could check at game faqs to see what unlocks which picture. And yes, most pictures come from "class" and "expert" mode.
- I'm pretty sure that each style has a slightly different timing window then the rest, and I think each song has it's own timing window? Not sure though. I can AA and AAA many songs on 10th style, but I still havn't managed to get a AAA on 7th, so it's not just you.
- Though I'm only on 7's right now, I got 9th style last september/october, and stopped playing for about 3 months. I'm pretty sure how quickly a person gets good is different, if I played constantly, I should probably be able to do some harder stuff, but I've been playing casually. but if gives you an idea.
- I'm not too sure how much each speed mod multiplies the bpm. but right now, anything below 120, I use 5, 120 - 130 I use 4.5, 130-145, I use 4, 145-160, I use 3.5, 160-175, I use 3, 175-185, I use 2.5, 185 - 210, I use 2.. etc etc. |

Oh, and what's with all the Rislim-remix- jokes? It's s pretty cool song. | Rislim -Remix- is a longtime joke from around 8th Style CS-era, I believe. Check the IIDX Icon at http://vjarmy.com/iidx for more info on this. _________________

cstarflare,
I just saw a video of you AAA'ing No. 13 with a full combo.
Can you give me some advice on how to improve, and how to read all the notes?
I have styles 6 through Red. _________________

OMG what part of "practice practice practice" do you people not understand? CSF has been playing for years, longer than I have, thats why he's so good. He's put for the time and effort to get them mad skillz you see. All the tatsujins I've seen are of players who have put forth a lot of effort (except the Fuse "Love Will A7" video, he said to me once on DDRUK that his score was really crappy and he only made the video to show how loud his ASC was or something like that). _________________

beatmania seems like practicing a musical instrument...you'll end up playing a relatively hard song that you fail every time until you manage to pass it.
and slowing down the song works wonders. |

Brian: Practice is the most important thing. Other than that:
-Use Random to get yourself used to awkward patterns
-Use your thumbs; more fingers is good
-Get used to reading high speeds |

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Beatmania US.
and to whoever asked, from my experience, high speed .5 = x1.5, 1 = x2, 1.5 = x2.5, etc. |
wrong the speeds not only vary slightly between styles the numbers only say
1 is faster than .5 and 3 is faster than 2 it dosnt hold any hint to the actual multipyer that the mod increases the pattern by _________________

Hi guys, kinda crossposted from TGA forums:
I played beatmania at first using the USPS2 version, and I love it, but I want more songs, better ones. I also would like there to be a Beginner difficulty on all songs, is that a possbility in JP IIDX? I can do a lot of songs, some 3s on Normal/Hyper, but I'm not that good. I can only do Colors and V Normal with the Easy mod, and just barely. I'll probably be using Easy on everything until I can get a feel of the songs.
So, which version would be the best for me to buy? Does it matter as long as it's above 6th? _________________

Every style from 7th has beginner mode, and 6th style has drill mode which trains you on the basic techniques in small chunks, like giving you a few bars of a song which has the technique in for you to 'drill' yourself on. My personal suggestions would be 7th for popular DDR transplants and 9th for all-round fun songs. Both have beginner, and every style has a good mix of very listenable songs, very fun to play songs, and some you won't wanna touch twice _________________

Rislim is on 5th style and red
Rislim remix ix only on 9th style
Ride on the light -hi great mix- is on 7th and 5th
Fly through the night is on beatmania us, 6th and red
Zero-one is one both 10th and red
So yeah you're dealing with songs on random styles _________________
