You can arrow smash to just about anything. Look at the Lawn Wake keyboard files. That is borderline noise techno (at least to me) and people eat those up because of the challenge. If it can make a good chart and isn't complete garbage-noise (yeah, its opinion based, but anything commercially [i.e. rap] popular today can be considered "music"), it is good enough for arrow-smash. _________________

I hate dancing to rap. It's too slow, and it's mainly just repetitive beats with stupid lyrics, without any truly fun or musical. Great dance music should be playing in clubs these days, not this crap rap that uses ideas already recycled like a million times, and if RoXor sells out to the hip hop crowd because of its popularity, I'm done with ITG. _________________

That goes alot of eurobeat, techno, house, trance, etc...
The stuff you're complaining about are aspects of almost every genre. _________________

I'm going to have to sorely disagree with you there. I find most dance music to not mainly focus on the lyrics (which, if any, are simplistic, but not necessarily stupid), but instead the overall music quality. There are all sorts of instruments and approaches those songs take, so they almost always sound rather unique and thus don't use horribly recycled ideas. This results in a diversity of neat songs to select from in ITG.
As for hip hop, well, the beats are different from each other, but still, this is the type of music that symbolizes what I stated. These songs use the same loop throughout the entire song, giving me headaches. Worse though, are the lyrics. It seems that rap is restricted to one certain point - "Being a 'gangsta', taking lots of drugs, using words like 'pimp' and 'hustla', bragging about how much money you have, violence, using as much profanity as possible, etc, really, anything that involves something vile or unnecessarily flashy". These pathetic ideas are used over and over and over again, and people still don't seem to get sick of them. Unlike techno and dance, rap never seems to really expand its horizons and sticks to the same overused ideas that were already terrible in the first place. _________________

Yeah, all a rap song is "brotha i dont give a frick poopy doggy kitty"
And you can click quote on me, I was one of the cool kids and wrote in the cencors myself.
Rap might not be very fun to actually dance to, I wouldnt know. However, I like playing them on dancing games. Not MC Frontalot stuff though.

"Imaginary Places" by Busdriver.
That could so easily be a 13 if Roxor stuck it in the game. |

Uniqueness is easily seen when have the songs contrast each other, but listen to enough and that don't seem all that unique anymore. Like it or not, all genres recycle, and quality is dependent only on the artist.

Quickly now, what do lazy artists do when they're...well, lazy? They RECYCLE ideas. They all do it, which results in the fat that accumulates around the good stuff. This problem plagues every genre, it's just that you've not found the time to look all the way through hip hop. That much is obvious, from your stereotypical observation. You've only been listening to artists that picked out the most popular idea and ran with it.
Have you listened to old-school or underground material? Have you gone through the full range before you solidified your opinion?
Now I'm not sure as to whether you're talking about dancing or playing ITG...you seem to switch back and forth a bit. Music for ITG puts extreme arrow-smashing first and dancing somewhere further down the line, which knocks out alot of music suitable for dancing. You can dance to alot more than you can arrow-smash and still have fun. _________________

I have listened to old school hip hop, as well as a lot of stuff from the Beastie Boys (one of my favorite groups), but the problem is, that type of rap has vanished into obscurity and all people care about these days in terms of rap is the stupid stuff that I was pointing out. Even so, rap in general is far too slow to work marvelously in the game, and I just don't like dancing to it the way I enjoy dancing to far more upbeat and diverse dance music. Hey, so it does recycle, but at least it doesn't use the exact same approach that all rap songs of today take. It's my opinion, but I really just don't want to see very much rap all over ITG. _________________

That's only because lots of people on Bemanistlye only want to download songs they can recognize. Once they got their hands on the simfile, they were likely disappointed if they know how good real simfiles are. Ridin' at twice its bpm would feel horribly awkward on ITG. _________________

In case you didnt notice, I wrote in all the censored words by myself. I actually say the censored words on ddrfreak in actual talking sometimes, and see if people get the connection. I can get by censors too.
All a rap song is, is "Nigga I don't give a fucking shit bitch pussy."
Next time, dont bump the thread almost a month to correct me... _________________

I think they should put in a little diddy by G-Unit entitled "I Smell Pussy." _________________
