-First, when you use quotation marks that are directly followed with the ending of the sentence, punctuation must ALWAYS be used inside the quotation, even if it's not directly related to the quote itself. If the sentence is a statement, the quote should end with a period, then the closing quotation mark. In this case, the sentence should end with a comma, quotation mark, then question mark. To wit:
What do you mean by "faster game speed,"?
-It is considered poor grammar to not include a space after a punctuation mark, including but not limited to "..." punctuations.
-When you said "I assuming you mean," I'm fairly certain you meant to say "I'm assuming you mean."
-Technically, his quote should have been changed to "I think they should have one as well," or "I think that they should have one, too." Notice that the word "that" is added or omitted to indicate the differences in grammatical clauses. "As well" is generally preferred after the word "one," as "too" can sometimes be taken out of context and read as "two." The word "also" was poor choice anyway, because it was used as a second sentence qualifier a mere three words later. Using the word twice in such a short time period served only to make the sentence redundant and the writing stagnant.
Am I being unusually strict about the things you wrote in your post? Absolutely. And why? Because I've been proofreading writing for several years, and don't take lightly to amateurs trying to sound like they know anything about anything when it comes to the literary craft.
And more importantly, you're on a message board, for crying out loud. This is the LAST place in which you should be trying to correct people, no matter how incoherent you think they are when they're expressing themselves.
Finally, as the old saying goes, "People in glass houses should not throw stones." |
Damn, I wasn't trying to make it perfect; I was trying to make it intelligible. I don't just go around correcting people's grammar. I may not be the linguistic expert that you claim yourself to be, but I can form somewhat readable sentences. I couldn't understand what he said the first 3 times I read it; I thought a translation was necessary. It's pretty pointless to "express" yourself when nobody can understand what the hell you're saying. |

I know it's been awhile, but I thought I'd post this. Here's some Expert steps for Mellow as I picture them:

(Note: These steps are not necessarily rated 11. I just picked that number at random.) _________________

IMO, every song should have expert steps. All it takes is some creativity when writing the stepchart and BOOM! you have instant expert steps that are harder than the hard steps.
Just add friggin water. _________________

Mellow is definitly an awesome song, and I was wondering the same thing.
It's a little to simple on hard.
The expert steps on double are pretty tricky though.
Damn those jumps..-shakes fist-
I don't know why, but I'm not good at really fast jumps. :c |
