cryptoddrfweak, that link mentions nothing about breaking pads. The "Velcro cracking sound" is just the velcro getting worn down. You can't expect fresh velcro to make no sound, it needs breaking in. And the down-arrow super-fire is probably related to either the game configuration having controllers on, or the sheetmetal was bent too much, an extremely easy fix.
The reason arcade machines break is OMG arcade pads have parts! Arcade panels use sensors, 4 of them, one at each direction, U D L R, for each arrow, and those wear down from use and dust and crap that gets in the pad, thus they need to be cleaned and replaced sometimes.
The CF pad works on the simple theory of completing a circuit. Metal part A touches metal part B and completes the circuit, and the signal is sent. If you can tell me a valid and non-idiotic way for metal sheet A to not be able to touch metal sheet B with normal use and cleaning, I'll give you a cookie. And no, smashing the pad with a hammer is not a valid reason. |

It's obvious that this is a circular argument.
Those who flames and flamebaited will receive points.
I'm locking this - there's really nothing more that can be said. _________________
