Thank you for informing me that, I always removed the songs just incase because I have over 700 songs.
Thank you for telling me you don't need a archiver to open .smzip files.

I have the new CVS file...and the controls simply won't work.
The help file says nothing about this, and I've already rebooted my computer. Nothing.
The rest of the game works FINE, except for the fact that I can't do a damn thing.
Can somebody help?

Can you go to the config. key/joy header on your Stepmania, sometimes the keys are not mapped out the way you had them to be on your other stepmania.
If not then my advice would be reinstall the CVS build unless someone else has any advice?

No. I can't do anything other than Alt+Tab and Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
I guess reinstallation is the path for me...

I'm having a really weird problem with DWI 2.49. I just tried upgrading from 2.0.1 in hopes it'd fix another problem I've been having, but it's caused more problems than it's helped.
I unzipped the 'upgrade' file to my DWI folder, and overwrote the old DWI2.exe file. I started up the new DWI2.exe, and I thought it would work just fine - it located all my song files with no trouble, then it went to the main screen. Here's where the trouble started:
The main screen loaded, but without the background music. I couldn't move the cursor to any of the options, and I couldn't use Esc to get out. It did the "Hey, man!" sound while I was waiting for Windows Task Manager to shut it down, but that's all it did.
Should I do a fresh reinstall, or what? DWI 2.0.1 ran just fine on my WinXP, 1Ghz processor, 256 RAM system.

Bingo, unless you want to try some other things, I would need more details first.

I can not help you with this, maybe Phrek can but my advice right now is, go back to the old version of your DWI and report this problem to the DWI crew.

ok i got my metal pad this morning, and beside it not lookin like the one on the site Buy N Shop (it looks way better, exactly like a cobalt flux), i didnt get the EMS2 usb-> ps adapter that was suppose to come with it, but instead in the box was an adapter that plugged into the back of my computer....well im not sure how to configure that one since i thought i was gettin the USB adapter....can anyone tell me anything about the adapter i got? It fits into the back of the computer where u plug a printer into.
please help, i would really like to get this to work since i prolly have to reorder the freakin EMS2 adapter... |

Sorry if this is somewhere already but I was trying to aviod shuffling through all the posts........ 
Here goes.
Whenever I download the 5th Mix skin it pops up as an SMzip but it's unreadable and unuseable. I've downloaded it form 3 different websites.......also wondering what Sm it's for. 3.0 or CVS (if so what release). I have the latest release of CVS and I have 3.0. Some 5th skins say they are for an older version, april or somthin' but those aren't for download anymore and I've tried to unzip it in both versions but it stays the same way........so what do I do? 
BTW I have 3 different unzip programs so that's not the case

| does anyone know how to make a Random Course for DWI that only does certain folders? i have a lot of originals and some of them are really hard, so i want only official songs to be in it. The new version of DWI has support for having random songs from selected folders but it doesn't say if/how to make it pick randomly from multiple folders. and help would be greatly appreciated. |

I downloded the CVS version and put all my songs on it and load it up and this pops-up:
Theme metric 'Common : WindowTitle' could not be found in 'Themes/default/metrics.ini' or 'Themes/default/metrics.ini'.
Anyone help me?

This isn't a DWI question, it's a Adapter question. And you need to read the FAQ before you post a question.

Ok here's how I do it:
#SONG:Special Mixes\GT-R - 3, Phrekwenci - 2 (  ):MANIAC:1.5x, REVERSE, POWER-DROP, DARK, WHATEVER;
And make sure that any modifiers are in caps (except for the x in 1.5x, 2x and so on). Make sure the file is named bonus-1 . (the readme tricked me into naming it bonus-1.crs , making it bonus-1.crs.crs  ) Hope that helps.

Ok in DWI when you hit the random command line (*whatever) for random songs, it searches through all of the folders for songs. But the sad thing is that they don't let you pick which folders, it has to be all of them. So my suggestion to you would be to open all of the hard songs' DWI file with notepad and change all of their difficulty to something else, let's say 11 or 12. And when you put in the random nonstop command line, just set the difficulty parameters to 7-10 or 7-9 or whatever you want. I'd put in the actual command line needed, but I don't remember it and I'm at school. Try looking at the sample Nonstop they give you with DWI for a reference. Hope that helps, reply or PM me if you need more help.
Phrekwenci, I just scored a 2 pointer from the outside (both of them), which makes the score GT-R - 3, Phrekwenci - 2. Looks like you're falling behind...
